Support research

Research consortia

Companies provide support for research projects on topics such as Global Companies In Local Markets, Design for the Base of the Pyramid, and others. Companies may participate either as Members or as Partners. ID is open to exploring other shared areas of interest with companies.

Member-Level Benefits

• Gain exposure to ID's design methods
• Attend periodic reviews of the work in progress
• Receive copies of research papers
• Interact with other corporate Members, students, and faculty

Level of Support: approximately $60,000/year, depending on the research project

Partner-Level Benefits
All of the Member benefits, plus:

• Act as advisors to the research agenda, including identification of specific areas for research
• Send up to two company representatives to participate in research projects
• See work six months in advance of publication
• Participate in consortium with other corporate Partners
• Review research in at least one private session each year

Level of Support: approximately $200,000/year, with a multi-year commitment

Individual faculty research

Many organizations choose to sponsor exploratory topics of interest to them that are currently being worked on by individual faculty members, both in graduate-level courses and doctoral-level research programs. Below are a few of the currently active topics; contact our staff or the faculty member for more information.

Sponsored research

ID is able to include sharing of intellectual property rights in some corporate agreements. These research agreements are predicated on a shared interest between ID and the company and require a significant resource commitment on the part of both organizations.
