Companies bring our methods "in-house" by hiring students who have a thorough understanding of strategic, user-centered design, and experience implementing it in business. Our entering students are from a wide variety of backgrounds, from traditional graphic/interaction/industrial design (about 50%) to psychology, anthropology, computer science, engineering, business and other related fields. The average MDes student has 1-5 years' prior work experience, while the typical MDM student has 7-10. About 40% come from abroad, and over 90% from outside the Chicago area.
