Visualization

Visualizing complex information is one of our main areas of interest in communication design. It is also highly relevant for research, planning, and product design activities as an approach to dealing with large, rich sets of user research data, design criteria, and other information involved in the design process.

One example of a visualization tool (at right) is Analysis & Transformations, developed by Vijay Kumar and Doblin, Inc. A&T illustrates relationships between items in long lists of activities, concepts, user needs or other factors. Items with strong relationships to each other can be clustered together, revealing useful patterns.
