The course is an introduction to various types and descriptions of new product development. Aspects of planning, coordination, methods and tools contribute to the process of product development. The course will explore typical processes from the perspective of leading organizations and references.

Designers are an integral part of most leading multi-functional product development teams. This course will outline the dynamics of teams, cultures, and support for innovation and product creation. From small entrepreneurial firms to large, complex multi-national corporations, product development experiences and examples will be examined and discussed alongside a collection of readings.

Format & Grading

Classes are conducted as lectures, discussions, readings, and short writing assignments.
