Graduate Intro to Photography

Description

Instructor

Tina Leto

This course serves as an introduction to the field of photographic image making, how images are constructed and the ways they are used to communicate. Students will learn the fundamental principles of image making, color theory, lighting and digital image processing through the practice of creating images.

Format & Grading

The semester is divided into 3 parts:

1. Light and shape: color strategies and the color of light
2. The social landscape: observation and interaction
3. Studio lighting: construction

Grading will be based on participation, technical proficiency, and overall understanding of assignments as represented by submitted images. All work is due at the end of the semester and students have the ability to refine their skills throughout the course.

There may be an occasional field trip. There are no specific readings but there will be occasional handouts.
