Intellectual Property and Product Development
Description
This course covers the issues of intellectual property with which a human-centered designer/innovator should be familiar. It will cover patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and licensing. You will learn the basics of intellectual property and be able to communicate with intellectual property lawyers in future endeavors. You will learn to read and understand patents and how to conduct at least basic searches. You will learn how to compare the different types of intellectual property to a particular task, to seek the best protection for the task at hand.
Format & Grading
Grading will be based on several pop quizzes and a final exam.
