Workshop on Human-Centered System Integration: Prototyping Platform System for Robotic Technology Applications to Health/ Elderly Care Environments

Keywords:
Human-centered system integration, prototyping, robotics, health cae, elderly care, prototyping platform, systems concept

Overview:
Robotics technologies have been reaching to the level that can be effectively deployed in various applications domains including home, healthcare, and elderly living environments. Yet the ways robots enter to our daily life and ways they interact with humans have not well explored. One of highly promising areas for robot applications is health care and elderly care service. Its impact of the robotic technology development will be significant in many aspects of the society. The projects will develop different software and hardware prototypes addressing different aspects and purposes of robot applications.

The goal of the class is to introduce a prototyping platform concept for robot system development for selected applications in health/elderly care area. This workshop class at ID will be working in synchronization and collaboration with IPRO class with the same topic. The ID project will address issues of robotic technology applications to health care and elderly care environments, explore mechanisms of effective prototyping methods, and introduce a prototyping platform system for human-centered system integration. IPRO Project focuses on the development of a working prototyping platform including software and hardware implementation while ID project further elaborate the systems concepts. The expected final output includes system concepts and specifications, mockup prototype models, and simulation models with electronic media.
