Immersive Media and Intensely Interactive Environm

Description

Instructor

Tom MacTavish

This course explores interaction design issues for immersive media experiences that are enabled by visual formats such as multiple displays, distributed indicators, and immersive displays (e.g. head mounted displays) and are used for applications such as cockpit controls, vehicle simulators, games, and virtual environments. In particular, we will look at the use of interaction models and techniques to provide users/participants with useful performance support by understanding principles and applying strategies for managing multimodal interaction, task delegation, adaptive interactions, and persuasive technologies.

Format & Grading

The course uses lectures, discussions, in-class assignments, and a final project. Depending on class size and interests, either individual and/or team assignments will be assigned.

Students are graded on their classroom involvement, their participation in classroom exercises, and their individual and/or team assignments.
