Past Projects
Learning in the urban core
The goal of this project was to help civic leaders in a large Midwestern city understand the root causes and driving forces behind the under-performance of the local public schools. Key deliverables were a reframe of the problem, an analysis of the contributions of key stakeholders to the root causes and driving forces, and a set of design principles that provided a framework for ongoing discussions between civic leaders, the school board, teachers, parents and students.

PEW Transformed—Tangible steps toward the future of physical education and wellness at UC Woodlawn.
An innovative charter school in Chicago operates a comprehensive physical education program for its students despite the fact that the school has no gym. Our team was invited to analyze the current solution and challenge deeply-held conventions surrounding gym class in high school. Final deliverables included a booklet describing our insights and design principles, and a set of cards describing actionable concepts tied to the three primary issue themes revealed through our analysis.

Understanding intangible value
Safeco Insurance sponsored this project, in which our team identified new opportunity space around the theme of next generation, intangible possessions, and how the role of independent insurance agent will change to adapt to new market needs. Final deliverables included a synthesis of our findings, a set of five opportunity areas and a high-level road map for defining next steps.
