Professor Laura Forlano named one of the 50 Designers Shaping Chicago in 2017
This year, NewCity is celebrating the “curators, organizers, educators, critics and thinkers who lead Chicago’s design scene, who provide the outlets and channels for practitioners to create and be acknowledged, who ensure there’s still space for substance to weigh the airless culture down, who keep those frames in place, those windows clean, and the vision for a better designed tomorrow clear.”
Assistant professor, Laura Forlano made NewCity’s list of 50 designers shaping Chicago in 2017. She is honored for teaching our students about design, aesthetics, and the life of cities through the lens of alternative and dis-established voices. She also believes designers have a responsibility to social justice movements as community connectors and pursues cross-disciplinary research in that realm.
