The School of Design at Jiangnan University is hosting the Design for Transition Conference in Wuxi, China from October 27 – 29. The conference will cover the international design industry, education, future looking innovation, user experience in healthcare design, social innovation, and interaction design technology all centered around this year’s theme of sustainable design innovation. On October 28, professor Vijay Kumar will give a keynote speech titled “Designers Change-makers” and participate in a panel discussion that evening. On October 29. he will facilitate the Design Innovation Process workshop.

During his talk, Vijay will address the new roles of designers such as driving innovations through emerging trends, creating delightful experiences, being agile with innovation processes, facilitating interactions and co-creations, conceiving ideas for social good, and influencing policy makers. His workshop will introduce some key principles that drive design innovation from his book, 101 Design Methods. Vijay will discuss how innovative leaders effectively use this approach for research, training, project, and strategic applications. Participants will learn new ways to build new products, strengthen existing business or services, and enrich their organization’s innovation through design methodology.
